of the West Regional Specialty Show September 6-7, 2003 - Olympia, WA At the COTW Regional Specialty Show Weekend in Olympia, WA, Dibs (Laughing First Dibs) was Reserve Winners Bitch on Saturday under an English judge and Best Tricolor in Show on Saturday and Sunday. King Charles Spaniel National Specialty May 9, 2003 - San Jose, CA At the CKCSC, USA National Specialty in San Jose, CA on May 9, 2003, 14 mo. old Dibs (Laughing First Dibs) was first in the Novice Bitch class against older bitches for her first points toward a Club championship. A CKCSC, USA championship requires two majors (at least Winners or Reserve Winners) and 10 points. However, championships are difficult to accomplish because champions compete at the class level and they are very competitive. Jane Pitts |

| 04/06/03 We were up in Cloverdale, BC, Canada this weekend at the Kiwanis Dog Shows. Today was a special day, with Allan Pepper, judging Whippets (and an entry boosted by the Lower Mainland Whippet Association). The bitch entry was very large for Canada, the dog entry was smaller. Julia was Winner's Female and then Best of Winner's for four points! Then she went on to take Best Whippet Puppy. And after THAT, she went on to take Best Puppy in the Hound Group! By the time it came around to Best Puppy in Show, Julia was absolutely "done", but she showed well anyway, and was a very good girl! This makes 6 points for Julia in Canada. Four more and she will be a Canadian CH! - Deb LaMonica-Anderson |

| 3/02/03 Ladies Kennel club, Cloverdale, BC. Julia was 1st in her 9-12 month class, Winner's Female, Best of Opposite Sex (over a special...) and Best Puppy, over a Whippet Puppy Dog who took a Group 1 earlier in the weekend. These are Julia's first points (just two, but we'll take them!), and mine too! Pretty cool! - Deb La Monica-Anderson |

| 1/26/03 Today, at the Auld Lang Syne shows in Cloverdale, Julia had another nice day. In another large entry, she went reserve again to the Bitch who took the points yesterday, Andauer Auntie Mame. (That bitch finished yesterday, but her ERN had not yet arrived, so they couldn't move her up... BUMMER!). Then, Julia went on to take Best Puppy in Breed. THEN... Julia went on to take the puppy hound group! I think I was in shock! I am really proud of her! We waited for Best Puppy in Show (YAWN... waited 5 hours...).. where we did not get another ribbon... but had a good experience learning. We also learned that past the breed level it is a bit of a different atmosphere in the ring... and that not everyone knows how to relax and have a good time! That's a story in itself... but handling class has taught me a few good things, that's for sure! If the black widow spider cocker handler next to me had been any closer, I would have gotten stung! POOR SPORT! No points for us... but some great new experiences today.. and a pretty Rosette! - Deb |

31-Sept. 1, 2002 "Dibs" (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel "Laughing First Dibs") made her debut in the conformation ring at the Cavaliers of the West regional specialty show in Beaverton, Oregon over Labor Day weekend. It was my first time in the conformation ring, also, but after going a couple of rounds with Brix in Open and Utility obedience earlier in the morning, the puppy conformation class didn't seem too intimidating! Dibs was placed second in her class of 7 both days to a very nice bitch who was 3 1/2 months older. Dibs was a natural showgirl and a crowd pleaser - she drew attention and compliments beyond any achievements in the show ring. We had fun! ~ Jane Pitts |

17 & 18, 2002 This weekend, at Olympic Kennel Club, I finished my first home-bred champion (out of my first Belgian Sheepdog litter) ...and, guess who it was? Crystal, of course, who may now be called by her formal name: Ch. Kaylan's Crystal Persuasion. It is so very thrilling to see all my hard work as a breeder (planning the breeding between Keeper & Baccarre', wondering if their phenotype and genotype would produce as I predicted it might, taking 6 weeks off from my life to whelp & raise this litter of 9, sending them off to their various homes and then spending the last year anticipating this day, etc., etc., etc.). The day was a great one, considering that Crystal's brother, Kava, went Best of Winners to earn his first points, which just happened to be a 3 point major. This was his owner's FIRST TIME EVER IN THE RING, and he didn't expect to have to show Kava himself! Congratulations to Derek & Kava! The icing on the cake was Baccarre' going Best of Breed, over a very nice special who beat him the previous day. When Annette told the judge of her consistency (putting up the family), she was quite pleased. The decorations on the icing on the cake were for Rain, handled by Annette, who got another major reserve. (Don't worry Alda, now that Crystal is out of the way, Rain's the girl to beat! And you're going to make a great handler!) Thanks so much to Kelly Nielsen for handling Kava on Saturday, for handling Flame today and for being a valuable extra pair of hands outside the ring. Thanks to Steve Horton for coaching Derek through his first time in the ring. Thanks to Mary Berry for showing Keeper today. A special thank you to Elaine Hopper for handling Crystal to many of her points...she'd have been on her today if she hadn't been in the ring with her own breed (dobies)!!! |

THIS DAY WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE without all the support from all of
you wonderful friends! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.
Most of all, a big hug and a tremendous THANK YOU to Annette Sullivan
for believing in Keeper enough to be willing to use Baccarre' at stud.
The Keeper X Baccarre' litter is off to a great start.
Crystal is just 15 months of age! The scorecard as of today: Kava: 3 pts. 1 major; Flame: 9 pts. 1 major; Keeper: 10 pts. 2 majors; Passion: 5 pts. 1 major; Rain: multiple major reserves & NEW CHAMPION CRYSTAL!!! ~ Kathy Lang PHOTOS AT RIGHT: CRYSTAL ON TOP, KAVA & OWNER DEREK PARKER ON BOTTOM. |

17, 2002 My Lhasa Apso finished his AKC Championship from the Bred-By-Exhibitor class at our Regional Specialty. Leo is now formally known as Am. Can. CH Tora Desiderata Lucky Star. He was the fifth champion sired by father, Carol Hess's Colby, giving Colby his ROM. Leo is my first home-bred champion and he earned all of his points but four and both majors from the Bred-By classes. Thanks to everyone for their support and help! ~ Barb Corbett |

2, 2002 I’m proud to announce that my Rhodesian Ridgeback, Scout, may now put the initials Ch in front of her name! She took winner’s bitch for a four point major at the Western WA Hound show yesterday to complete her championship. For those of you who know the ups and downs of her show career (with her mostly inept handler, me) you’ll know that this has been a long process that we’re both happy and proud to have completed. Now we can really concentrate on obedience and lure coursing.I’m happily still celebrating. Cheers! ~ Cyndy Israel |

30, 2002 Belgian Sheepdog conformation brags from Sunday OUTDOORS IN THE POURING RAIN at Bell-Vernon KC in Mount Vernon: Kaylan's Crystal Persuasion (Crystal) went WB & BOS for a 4 point major. She now has 3 majors and 10 points. Crystal was beautifully presented, once again, by Elaine Hopper (FDTC handling instructor). Crystal is now tied with Keeper (10 points each & all majors), and a point ahead of sister Flame (9 points & 1 major). Should we should start a pool on who'll finish first? They're neck & neck in the home stretch! ~ Kathy Lang |

Pooh got Winners Dog (for 2 pts), Best of Breed and a Group 4!!! I'm still floating!!! I'm not sure a Golden has ever done all of that in the same day!!! ~ Claudia Shaw |
